Angeles City, Pampanga

2021 and 2022 additions

The 50th anniversary of the declaration of martial law was marked by protests around the country, including Pampanga. This picture, from CLTV News, shows students at Holy Angel University conducting a protest on campus grounds, using Kapampángan.

These photographs, which were contributed to a FB Kapampangan group, appear to be recent. They can be found at the Clark International Airport.

The Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board included the Kapampangan Region, Pampanga plus Kapampangan-speaking Southern Tarlac, as well as most provinces in Central Luzon, in what it calls the Northern Tagalog Region, which is a clear insult to Kapampangans and denies their existence, in effect a form of genocide:
Language, ethnic cleansing and genocide a form of genocide, a violation of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide (to which the Philippines is a signatory), and hence a crime against humanity. In particular:
"Article II: In the present Convention, genocide means any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such:
(b) Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group;
(e) Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group."

Since scores of national or ethnical groups are involved in the Philippines, the magnitude of the crime is correspondingly aggravated. In addition, the denial of the use of the non-Tagalog languages in school is a violation of the International Convention on Civil and Political Rights, especially the following provisions:

This was reproduced in a Pampanga religious website, but is originally from Spain. What is significant is that it recognizes a distinctive Kapampangan nation.

January 2022 on a devastated street in Cebu the crew was overheard conversing in a Luzon language. The nation of Cebu thanks the nation of Pampanga. It's not just Angeles Electric. Also spotted this time on the main highway was Tarlac Electric.

The new mayor of Angeles, Carmelo Lazatin III, has signed an ordinance making Kapampangan the preferred medium of internal communications, particularly at the Tourism Office. The former mayor, Edgardo Pamintuan, signed the Local Language Ordinance into law.
